We had a wonderful time at Kai Nalu. I have loved staying in Waimea as a base to explore the island; it has a laid back and friendly vibe and doesn't feel too crowded. We were 2 families with kids ages 7-11, who had a ton of fun playing in the backyard, finding olivine in the sand, and fishing off the Waimea pier. The house was clean, had plenty of space, and we appreciated the air conditioning in every room. We made great use of the boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, and noodles they provided. Kauai Vacation Rentals was so pleasant and easy to work with, and they and the owner were very responsive when a maintenance issue came up. Would absolutely stay there again!

A great overall experience! The staff at Kauai Vacation Rentals were friendly and helpful. The property was perfect for us, clean, and truly well stocked with all the essentials and then some. The location is great, an easy walk to different food choices and the local grocery, and the beach is right out the back door. We literally had zero issues and highly recommend this house!

Kai Nalu is wonderful! The house is in a great location. You can walk to several places in Waimea safely and easily. The views are beautiful from the lanai. You can see the islands of Ni'ihau and Lehua in the distance, boats, and ocean wildlife. The sound of the ocean waves is relaxing and the sunsets are amazing. If your agenda includes activities on the south end of Kauai, this home is for you!

Great home, great experience! The home was perfect for our family vacation. The beds were confortable; plenty of bathrooms; the kitchen has all the comforts of home; great outdoor space. The home is in needs of some updates, butoverall our experience was good. If geography and important and wanting to be in close proximity of activies, probably not the home for you.

The home is very well appointed with anything our family needed. Plenty of cook ware, plates, knives, appliances, etc. Also the owners saw to it there were plenty of towls and toilet paper. The kitchen had plenty of incidentals as well such as spices and sauces in the cubbard. We left all of our unused non perishables for the next guests as well. The master suite is very large with a fireplace, large bath and walk in closet, and the bedroom and bathroom all walk out onto the deck overlooking the beach. The other bedrooms are smaller but each has access to its own bath. The family room which is open to the kitchen is very comfortable and looks out onto the nicely kept lawn that ends on the beach. The beach is beautiful but not the best for swimming due to the fresh water river that comes in about 300 meters down from the house so the water is brackish. It's not bad but just not as clear as some of the nearby beaches like salt pond or Poipu. All in all it is a very nice property on a beautiful beach in paradise. If you are looking for a nice quiet place close to the locals for you and your family. I don't think you could do better than this. We would walk into town about 3 blocks and get shaved ice at Jojo's or eat at one of the restaurants and shop. Also there were many other items at the home that made our stay such as beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel equipment, coolers, boogie boards, lounge chairs, a barbque grill with plenty of propane which was great because there were local fishermen selling their catch in town. Finally, the ladies at Kauai vacation rental are very helpful and honest. We received much more than we expected. For us this place was perfect and we intend on going back to Kauai and this is where we will stay.

Kai Nalu is perfect for a vacation with a family of eight. We all had more than enough room in a comfortable home that offered quiet moments and opportunities to just enjoy the beauty of Kauai. It was so close to a grocery, restaurants, shops and we took advantage of it all. The location made it easy to get to the beaches we wanted to see. Best of all, it gave us the opportunity to just hang together - we all live in different states across the continent from each other. It was paradise!

Great place to view sunsets. Well maintained, easy access, walkable to grocery store. More of a local feel than a tourist feel. Grounds kept well. Big kitchen fully stocked for cooking. Beach is nice but not really swimmable. AC should be fixed. Maybe supply small soaps and shampoos? Would highly recommend for families and small groups that enjoy cooking and eating meals together. Nice table outside to enjoy meals and play games. Very quiet at night. Very safe. Dry side of island.

We had searched long & hard to find the perfect house to celebrate our 60th birthdays for four friends that have been great friends since the 4th grade. We made our reservation 4/10/22. On 9/30/22 less than 48 hours prior to arrival, we were informed that the A/C did not work and extra fans would be in place. This would have helped if all of the doors had screen doors... This was a major reason why we chose this house. With no other options, we were refunded 30%. Upon arrival, the house had mold, doors falling off, dryer lint never cleaned, VERY DIRTY. We felt uncomfortable with the cleanliness the entire stay. This was NEVER resolved except for the bleach spray around one bedroom window, & Lucy left me a message stating that someone came back to clean, we noticed minimal change and would have not noticed it at all unless she called. Happy to send photos of our stay. We were given notice that our cleaning fee would be refunded. When was the last time ANYONE inspected this house? Lucy tried her best to accommodate our issues. It was not her fault. We remain EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED and as questioning if we would use VRBO again, as there does not seem to be any checks and balances in place.

As the title states, the home is very spacious and we liked the layout. It has a beautiful deck outside the master bedroom that gives you a beautiful view of the beach/ocean just beyond the back yard. It is walking distance to 2 grocery stores and a couple fast food places and a shave ice place. Although the home could be very nice, it is in need of some maintenance . A couple of the chairs were in need of repair, the tile in the master shower has been painted and is peeling, the master toilet runs intermittently in between flushes. The main issue we had was the air conditioning was not working upon arrival. It took 3 days to get someone out to look at it and then a part had to be ordered. It still wasn’t repaired when we left after our 9 day stay. Thank goodness for lots of windows and doors that opened and ocean breezes!

We had a wonderful time at Kai’nalu. The house was perfect for our party of 7 - 6 adults and a little one. Each couple had their own room & bathroom and there was extra space for the little. The beach is steps away and so relaxing to just sit and watch. There were some minor things in the house that needed attention, and we left a list for the management company hoping that they’ll follow through fixing-they’d been very helpful with questions and assistance since we made our reservation.

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home on the beach. The property description was spot on. The home was very cozy and had plenty of room for our whole family of 7. We only had one issue with the AC not working properly in the upstairs twin bedroom but the rest of the home was very pleasant especially since the temp can reach up to 88 degrees during the day. The views from the upstairs porch as spectacular. Our evening dinners on the outside porch were amazing. the grounds were well manicured and the chairs on the beach were comfortable. We would love to come again one day! Thank you

We enjoyed our Kai Nalu stay very much . The neighbors were friendly and the house very spacious. There was a drainage issue in the main floor front en suite bath when the washer was going. And the downstairs hall bath toilet did not flush fully. Needs attention but no t a huge problem.
The living room sofas were not comfortable and need updating, especially in light of the nightly rental fee. The location was wonderful and convenient and the weather on that side of the island is definitely the nicest. Overall a great trip and we would stay there again.

The location within walking distance to Waimea is nice and it’s lovely to watch sunsets on the beach. The house is large and comfortable and the lanai is lovely. The only downsides were the beach isn’t a swimming beach, the neighbor’s dogs bark frequently, and she leaves the lights on her palm trees on all night—including the flashing ones. Not what I expected in Kauai! I also would have appreciated being informed when the workman who came to fix the A/C half way through our visit was going to be in the house.

Our family of seven adults vacationed together in this home for a week. It was the perfect setting. The house was very comfortable and well-equipped from the kitchen to the beach chairs. The outside table was the perfect place to eat and play cards. And most of all, the lovely beach just beyond our backyard created time for conversation, relaxation and great walks with relative privacy. One surprise for us was how much we enjoyed the location in Waimea. It is more residential than touristy, and residents were very kind and welcoming. The location was so walkable -- just a few blocks from small grocery stores, good meals with delightful service at Wrangler's Steakhouse and of course Jo Jo's shaved ice, all just blocks away. We were also surprised to find that a place called "Chicken in a Barrel" was a great place to drink beer. The rental company was fully informative and easy to work with. As others have noted, it's not a swimming beach (though one is just a few miles away), and do beware the noisy roosters. Still, we had a wonderful vacation and we highly recommend this home.

Our rental was perfect for the seven of us!! The house is very nice, in a quiet location, right on the beach. It is well stocked and had places for all of to gather and to find quiet time apart too.

It is a short walk to the local stores and restaurants. Waimea is a great location to easily get to other attractions and beaches on the island and was warmer/dryer weather while we were there than other parts of the Kauai. The rental company staff were easy to work with and We had a great stay!

Our experience with both the property and the Kauai Vacation Rental company was wonderful. They had great communication, kind and were accommodative when our plans were unknowingly changed. The Kai Nalu property was great for our trip. Each room and bathroom was conveniently located within the house. The property is walking distance to great food and markets.

Kai Nalu was a great home base for our west side adventures to Waimea Canyon and Napali. The black sand beach was peppered with green peridot. The Ishihara Market was 2 blocks away with great food. Good swimming at nearby Salt Pond Beach for the whole family.

This house was perfect for us, 5 adults and 2 children. While the water was not good for swimming, the beach was great for playing, walking and watching the sunset! Waimea is a great little town and, it’s Kauai, so everything is close by. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this house.

The home is right on the beach. It is an easy walk to groceries, food and coffee. We liked that there are four bedrooms. We choose a vacation rental because it is like being at home, less to pack, saves money on food. Comfort of a home rather than a hotel, plus keeping us all together. Kauai Vacation Rentals were awesome, got back to me right away when I emailed. Staff told us that we couldn't seim in the ocean behind the home even though it was stated well in the description, which was great! People in town were very friendly and that is part of why we love this island!

This house was wonderful! Very spacious and clean. Perfect size for our big family. Very easy walking distance to town with kids. Right on the beach and next to the river. Swimming in the ocean here isn’t advised (think that depends on the season) so we swam in the river which felt amazingly refreshing and we had a lot of fun in it. Don’t let the dark color fool ya it’s draining the red dirt from all around Waimea canyon. The house comes fully equipped with plenty of beach chairs, towels, sand toys and snorkel gear. The staff at the rental company were extremely helpful and courteous in our needs. If there was any blemishes on this property it would be the AC had a tougher time keeping up with AUG heat/humidity. But they supply a lot of fans which helped a lot. It was never too uncomfortable just used to central air. Not a deal breaker. Pictures don’t fully give the depth and beauty of this home. It really is an amazing home. The master bedroom is fantastic. One bedroom is an MIL suite. While we like to explore different places to stay on each visit I wish we could get this house in every location. Felt like a second home. 5 stars all the way. If this house went on the market in our $$ range we’d buy it.

We rented this house for our visit to Kauai this time. With the exception of food, it had everything we needed to make our 8 day vacation a wonderful experience. Went to sleep every night listening to the ocean crashing on the beach just a few yards from the house. We would definitely look into renting this property again if we return to Kauai again.

We had the best time at the house. There were 6 adults and one 8 yr old. We spent 10 days. The house was beautiful and clean. The property mgmt was organized, friendly and professional. We were very happy with our stay at this lovely home in Waimea. Being right on the beach, and a short walk to restaurants and shopping is ideal; the neighborhood is quiet and friendly, and this location was ideal for close access to hiking in the mountains and exploring the west coast of Kauai , while accommodating those who just wanted to relax on the beach and stay close to home. This house was perfect for our group of all ages! Waimea is a sleepy little town close to majestic Waimea canyon and tranquil Salt Pond beach. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. Shopping was close by. Ample bathrooms and bedrooms. The large outdoor dining area worked well too.

We loved our stay! The house was well stocked and we loved the sound of the waves at night. We loved this side of the island, very laid back and relaxing. Loved Polihale Beach and Salt Pond Beach, they are both short drives from the house. The sunsets are amazing to watch every night. We will definitely be back!!

We stayed at 'Kainalu' in Waimea on the Westside. The house was awesome and right on the beach. Super comfy beds too! We made sure to catch the sunset every night and ate outside on the lanai often. We went on an ATV tour in Koloa, windsurfing at Anini Beach, snorkeled at Lydgate Park, had a picnic in Kokee near the Lodge, played in the ocean every day, and three of us went hiking to Hanakapiai Falls. It was such an awesome trip. The house was more than roomy enough for the seven of us. My husband and I had the master bedroom upstairs which had its own lanai and loungers as well as a master bath with a shower and separate jetted tub. We slept listened to the waves roll in and crash as we went to sleep. It was incredibly relaxing. KVR was great about e-mailing us reminders and left us a packet of helpful information along with the keys at our car rental place at the airport. You guys were great!!

We enjoyed our visit. The house was perfect enough room for all us to enjoy and the neighbors are great gave us so much local information of places to go see. I would walk out to the beach every morning to watch the sunrise. We have added to the game cabinet with poker chips and cards there is even a new yard game to play. Really loved having beach towels and cooler to take when we went exploring for the day. Oh and if you need to use a pharmacy while there go to Wayside pharmacy they saved us when i ran short of my prescription and couldnt have been nicer.

Great house! You can really hear the surf. Stocked with cooler to use and beach chairs. There was even a fishing pole which was great since you dont need a license to fish in the ocean. The river enters the ocean only a 1min walk down beach. While we were there it had carved a natural water slide into the sand complete with rapids. The kids had a blast . We'd stay there again for sure!

My family and I had the best time at this home just strolling down the beach. Very comfortable,clean and relaxing. Last images I have of my father before he recently died was him sitting out on one of the chairs with a Mai Tai. We will definitely come back to this rental.

Our experience with both the property and the Kauai Vacation Rental company was wonderful. They had great communication, kind and were accommodative when our plans were unknowingly changed. The Kai Nalu property was great for our trip. Each room and bathroom was conveniently located within the house. The property is walking distance to great food and markets.

This house was perfect for us, 5 adults and 2 children. While the water was not good for swimming, the beach was great for playing, walking and watching the sunset! Waimea is a great little town and, it’s Kauai, so everything is close by. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this house.

The home is right on the beach. It is an easy walk to groceries, food and coffee. We liked that there are four bedrooms. We choose a vacation rental because it is like being at home, less to pack, saves money on food. Comfort of a home rather than a hotel, plus keeping us all together. Kauai Vacation Rentals were awesome, got back to me right away when I emailed. Staff told us that we couldn't seim in the ocean behind the home even though it was stated well in the description, which was great! People in town were very friendly and that is part of why we love this island!

This house was wonderful! Very spacious and clean. Perfect size for our big family. Very easy walking distance to town with kids. Right on the beach and next to the river. Swimming in the ocean here isn’t advised (think that depends on the season) so we swam in the river which felt amazingly refreshing and we had a lot of fun in it. Don’t let the dark color fool ya it’s draining the red dirt from all around Waimea canyon. The house comes fully equipped with plenty of beach chairs, towels, sand toys and snorkel gear. The staff at the rental company were extremely helpful and courteous in our needs. If there was any blemishes on this property it would be the AC had a tougher time keeping up with AUG heat/humidity. But they supply a lot of fans which helped a lot. It was never too uncomfortable just used to central air. Not a deal breaker. Pictures don’t fully give the depth and beauty of this home. It really is an amazing home. The master bedroom is fantastic. One bedroom is an MIL suite. While we like to explore different places to stay on each visit I wish we could get this house in every location. Felt like a second home. 5 stars all the way. If this house went on the market in our $$ range we’d buy it.

We rented this house for our visit to Kauai this time. With the exception of food, it had everything we needed to make our 8 day vacation a wonderful experience. Went to sleep every night listening to the ocean crashing on the beach just a few yards from the house. We would definitely look into renting this property again if we return to Kauai again.

This house was perfect for our group of all ages! Waimea is a sleepy little town close to majestic Waimea canyon and tranquil Salt Pond beach. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. Shopping was close by. Ample bathrooms and bedrooms. The large outdoor dining area worked well too.

We stayed at 'Kainalu' in Waimea on the Westside. The house was awesome and right on the beach. Super comfy beds too! We made sure to catch the sunset every night and ate outside on the lanai often. We went on an ATV tour in Koloa, windsurfing at Anini Beach, snorkeled at Lydgate Park, had a picnic in Kokee near the Lodge, played in the ocean every day, and three of us went hiking to Hanakapiai Falls. It was such an awesome trip. The house was more than roomy enough for the seven of us. My husband and I had the master bedroom upstairs which had its own lanai and loungers as well as a master bath with a shower and separate jetted tub. We slept listened to the waves roll in and crash as we went to sleep. It was incredibly relaxing. KVR was great about e-mailing us reminders and left us a packet of helpful information along with the keys at our car rental place at the airport. You guys were great!!

We enjoyed our visit. The house was perfect enough room for all us to enjoy and the neighbors are great gave us so much local information of places to go see. I would walk out to the beach every morning to watch the sunrise. We have added to the game cabinet with poker chips and cards there is even a new yard game to play. Really loved having beach towels and cooler to take when we went exploring for the day. Oh and if you need to use a pharmacy while there go to Wayside pharmacy they saved us when i ran short of my prescription and couldnt have been nicer.

Great house! You can really hear the surf. Stocked with cooler to use and beach chairs. There was even a fishing pole which was great since you dont need a license to fish in the ocean. The river enters the ocean only a 1min walk down beach. While we were there it had carved a natural water slide into the sand complete with rapids. The kids had a blast . We'd stay there again for sure!

Kai Nalu, which means "Ocean Wave" in Hawaiian, is right on the beach in Waimea, between the river and the historic Waimea Pier. Located on the sunny West side of Kauai, this spacious home provides a perfect setting for your holiday in paradise.

Enjoy spectacular ocean views (enhanced by a fabulous view of Ni'ihau -- the Forbidden Island) and watch the sun set into the sea every evening from a nearly endless stretch of charcoal sand beach. We recommend going to a life guarded beach for swimming. Take a stroll down the beach at your leisure and if you happen to see green sparkles in the sand here, they are mineral crystals called olivine. Gem-quality olivine is known as peridot, the birthstone for August.

Two expansive lanais overlook views of Ni'ihau sunsets and are a great place from which to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or cool beverage along with the fabulous vista.

The living room is bright and comfortable with wonderful ocean views. The huge master bedroom suite has a sitting area and equally fabulous views. The master bath has marble floors, an oversized glass block shower and jacuzzi tub with an ocean view. The gourmet kitchen has a gas island cooktop, tile counters and all appliances.

Earth friendly home utilizes green technology to provide solar hot water and electricity.
