Very far from most places, not well maintained, poor amenities
Reviewed on 2024-11-27 by Lasha L. , Mountain View, CA United StatesThe house is a relatively short drive to Hanalei beach, and a walking distance to Queen's Bath (which was closed for a season). However, it's far from pretty much everything else on the island (since the road doesn't loop around the whole island, and this is near one of the endings). So we often had drives that were 1hr+, and one time 2 hours when we went to Waimea Canyon.
House
The house looks good and has a nice backyard, but there were numerous issues. First, we found a very large cockroach in our bedroom on the first day. We also found a Centipede (6inches or so) in the bedroom closet, which is venomous and definitely scary - I'm glad we only saw it on the last day when were about to leave, I wouldn't feel comfortable sleeping there anymore. The maintenance could definitely be better, e.g. you open bathroom shelf and it's really messy. Wifi was very very bad, washing machine and drier very old and the latter was barely functional. We were given very few beach towels (1 per person), which was also an issue since the drier never really worked. There's no AC, so in non-winter months it's probably a bigger issue.
Overall
I would definitely pick a different location on the island, so that the drives are drastically shorter. Also the house left a lot to be desired - finding live insects (one venomous) definitely doesn't give a nice feeling.

Reviewed on 2022-11-13 by Bonnie T. , Nipomo, CAMy best friend and I try to take a vacation together once a year and she had never been to Hawaii so, I started researching and found this place. It fit all our wants and needs. Both our husbands have passed so, we enjoy our travels together. I moved to California and she is in Colorado so our trips together are a lot of catch up. This place was beautiful and was perfect for our girls getaway.

Reviewed on 2022-09-27 by Janet L. , Florissant, MO United StatesSince there's no A/C, it got warm some afternoons when it was sunny. The property is clean and in excellent shape, but it does look its age. This wouldn't be the best match for anyone looking for a modern space with all the conveniences.
But, for anyone looking for a quiet getaway with an island feel to it, this is the perfect spot!

We love Kauai and this condo
Reviewed on 2019-09-22 by Bridget G. , Richmond, CAI've been coming to Kauai for 20 years and this was the nicest condo I've stayed in! Great floor plan and nice back yard.
We went Kayaking on the Hanalei River, hiked up the Manta Ray, played mini golf, went to Hideaways, did a boat tour of Na Pali, went out to Koke'e, camped for 2 nights, hiked past the end of the road to the next peak, 4X4'd into the caldera and just hung out at Anini Beach. Enjoyed a day at Lydgate when there was a high surf advisory for the north shore.
Our favorite restaurant was the one upstairs at Ching Young called the North Shore Grill? We went to MCS on the south shore on our way to Waimea and it was incredible.

Peace, comfort, tranquility
Reviewed on 2018-11-14 by Susan R. , Wailuku, HIProperty is very spacious & comfortable. It would make a great retreat for a family or two couples traveling together. There’s lots of privacy with trees, bushes, & a wide expanse of well tended lawn. Decor is a bit dated, but the furniture is very comfortable and the unit is immaculate. Kitchen is much larger & better equipped than in most condos, room sizes are generous, & there is good separation between the bedrooms for maximum privacy. Communication with management company was clear & prompt. Highly recommended.

Perfect spacious condo for our family!
Reviewed on 2018-01-11 by Gretchen G. , Sault Sainte Marie, MIOur stay in this condo was part of a perfect week for us! It was everything our family needed and we were so grateful! This is not an overly fancy condo, but everything was in good condition and all the details are covered! Grill supplies, matches, multiple tables, all the beach items we could ask for, (our son loved the toys!!!) cooking supplies, (the French press and blender were also nice perks for us) plastic bags, laundry soap, all kinds of fresh extra linens, etc. All of these little details were helpful, and the reason we chose a condo over a hotel. One thing we loved was the location in Princeville/Hanalei area (definitely our favorite part of the island!) The spacious backyard/patio were also a favorite spot; our son loved playing outside and watching the chickens and running around in the grass. Although this is not on the beach (which we originally hoped for) it was not a big deal for us at all because it was such a wonderful location overall. Hanalei Bay is very close, as well as many other great public and more private beaches. This is a great condo for a family who wants to relax, and great value for the price!

Aloha and welcome to one of the finest vacation destinations in the world - Kauai.
Kamahana condos are located on the spectacular North Shore of the Garden Island of Kauai. This extremely spacious and private condominium is over 1200 sq. ft. and feels more like a house than a condo. It's on the ground floor and features extra-high vaulted ceilings and three private lanai. This condo is unique because it is separate from the others. There are no shared walls downstairs and only one other condo above. This provides a lot of privacy.
The lanai off the living room looks out at the private back yard with views of Kauai's lush gardens and mountains. It is very private and quiet. The back yard is also great if you have a couple of kids that need to run around and burn off energy. This lovely condo has a fully equipped kitchen as well as a washer/dryer, TV, stereo, and DVD player. There are also some extras available for your use: beach towels, some beach toys and a cooler. Don't bother packing that extra stuff -- it's already here for you!
Some nights you may just want to stay in so there are games to play with the family. Many things you want to make your vacation completely enjoyable are already here. Wireless high-speed internet access is also available.
Each bedroom has a comfortable king-sized bed with a cozy down comforter. The master bathroom is very large with a huge walk-in shower. The guest bathroom has a shower and a bathtub.
From Princeville, there are over 26 different, spectacular beaches that are less than 20 minutes away. Two world-class golf courses, the Prince ranked #1 in Hawaii and the Makai, ranked #7, are located in Princeville.
Two great tennis clubs, The Makai Tennis Club and the Hanalei Bay Resort, are less than five minutes away. The luxurious 5-Star St. Regis Hotel is a few minutes' drive down the road and offers a spa and gourmet dining with spectacular views. The Westin is also close by and has a fabulous restaurant called Nanea. Enjoy!
Kamahana condos front the 27-hole Makai Golf Course offering distant views of the Kilauea Lighthouse and Secret Beach. A secluded swimming pool and BBQ area are also available nearby for your enjoyment.
Adventurous guests may like to take a short walk down the road to an exciting hike through the rainforest. You'll be rewarded with a magnificent private beach (Sealodge Beach) where you can enjoy hunting for shells, searching the tide pools, snorkeling or just relaxing in the sun.

The door to the separate upstairs unit is between the main entrance and the secondary bedroom, and directly outside its louvred window, so in that bedroom you hear very close some early morning comings and goings (working local residents). Mostly noise was not a problem.
The kitchen and two full bathrooms are older, though functional and adequately supplied. The ants were definitely finding their way into the kitchen from outside at this time, though.
We would certainly consider coming back, if circumstances normalize between our countries.
