We had a wonderful stay! The view you get for the cost you pay cannot be beat. Everything was perfect, beds were comfy, place was very clean, neighbors were super friendly, and we watched turtles and whales nonstop! We will be back and try and stay here!

Rented for 35 days. Entry way is dark and was dirty when we arrived. Master BR has serious mildew/mold; one wall has bubbled and peeling paint with dark spots. We had cold like symptoms, runny noses and eyes, headaches which were better when we would stay out for extended hours. Shower/toilet closet had septic smells often. Ice maker didn’t work, tiny ants on counters, windows were dirty in/out. Rugs were filthy, our feet were filthy from stepping on them, mattress pad cover had fluids on it, kitchen door had no weather stripping and didn’t shut completely, decor pillows dirty. Noise from tenants walking above woke us up through the night, it wasn’t anything they did, building is poorly constructed. People next to us had same issue. Louvre windows should be replaced with glass, they allow moisture in the bedrooms. Another review appropriately compares the bedrooms to caves. Other review mentioned mold/mildew; also agree this unit should not be in a rental pool as it is clear these issues aren't taken seriously. The “pool” is only a dipping pool and doesn’t get much sun. Kitchen utensils were old and barely adequate. The cost is not appropriate to the condition of this rental unit.

First time two years before, this time was even better: New appliances; new ductless air conditioning (albeit, a bit noisy for about an hour after shutdown); walk-out to front lawn; improved swimming pool and grill. Improvement request: you really need to improve the sliding door lock in the second bedroom; or, at least highlight the secret to making it work. Had advance contact with Management company, always great! No problems.

The decor is 70's. The unit has so much mildew and musk that I had to sleep on a mattress in the living room with the door and windows open. The parking is horrible and the outside entrance is very dark. The only good thing about this unit is the view. We stayed 10 days and will not rent a unit here again.

Hot water heater was broken for 2 full days and needed to be replaced. Smoke alarm was broken and incessantly made sounds for 2 hours. Both issues were fixed but are examples that the condition of the appliances and maintenance of apartment caused our stay to be much less than optimal. View makes up for a lot of negatives but I would expect that paying 5,000$ for our stay everything would have worked and not needed maintenance to come multiple times. Late checkout request was denied, also disheartening as we had a 4pm flight out.

Wonderful spot, turtles abound, easy access to all the key beaches and shopping and unit has good airflow. Nice Hawaiian decor but not beautifully furnished compared to many other places we stayed in Poipu. But, the unit needs some upgrades. TV, DVD operation is ridiculous. A simple app speaker like Sonos is needed so you can listen to your online stuff. Doors in/out and on cabinets need help. You have to be careful when using all. Bedrooms are like caves since windows face walkways so blinds stay closed. Not much can be done about that. Need to update glassware.

Our condo was beautifully located on the shores of Poipu. The location was spectacular. Nice quiet neighborhood. Unit was spacious and conveniently located between Poipu and Brennecke’s beach. Loved hearing the crashing waves all night.

The sunsets from this property are just beautiful...every night! This unit could use some maintenance, The slider screen was separated from the frame at the main slider, the bathroom exhaust fan did not work, meaning that room was fiercely hot, the toaster did not work and the slider in the back bedroom (twin beds) did not open. A good once over would be useful. Plus, we were aware that this unit is not air conditioned, however, the ventilation in this unit is dreadful and the unit was far warmer than other units we've rented on this island without A/C. There was probably more ventilation in the units that were above ground level, but not here. Being the bottom unit made the days after 10 am really hot and the late afternoons with prior the sun setting were really difficult to take.

Loved being oceanfront. Though units on either side it still felt very private. Enjoyed the extensive oceanfront trail that can be accessed heading out of the parking ramp and immediately to the right. Great vantage point for critter watching as it passes in front of resort complex and past the golf course. Whales, turtles, monk seals all present in late February. Unit was in good shape in general. A few items showed their age as things tend to do so close to the ocean, (ie. kitchen window corroded shut). No A/C in the unit (fans only) wasn't a significant issue at the time of year we were there but it might be at other times.

I loved my stay at this condo. It was exactly as advertised. 10 min. walk to beaches and a couple restaurants, abt 15 min. walk to more restaurants. Saw whales every day. Very quiet, private location. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a great condo in a great area. The view from the lanai is breathtaking. We spent every morning enjoying our coffee out there, watching the sea turtles and occasional dolphins. Quite with everything we needed for our stay. Walking distance between beaches was perfect.

The apartment was wonderful. Everything was there. Dish soap, kitchen towels, beach chairs etc.
The view from the patio was spectacular. We could watch dolphins, turtles. Even a whale came close by.

We loved the location of the complex and with the oceanfront condo, it was amazing. The views and the serenity were wonderful. Walking distance to almost everything we needed or wanted. The condo itself was clean and well-provisioned. The staff was very helpful and efficient. I would come right back here again. We all enjoyed our evenings on the lanai watching the sunset and our mornings on the lanai watching the dolphins and turtles.

Fabulous!! This was our second stay at Poipu Makai. We will be back. The views are beautiful. The condo was very comfortable. Well equipped with new appliances and everything we needed and lots of fans through out. Beautiful Hawaiian pictures in every room. Loved the unobstructed ocean view and walking out to the patio and lawn. Tried a few restaurants in Poipu: Tortilla Republic breakfast downstairs was awesome! The seafood corn chowder and the whole experience at The Beach House was A+!

Poipu Makai B-1 is beautifully furnished with Hawaiian decor and local art. You'll enjoy indoor-outdoor living here on your lanai and lawn with views of spectacular sunsets, humpback whales off shore (in season), and sea turtles and dolphins. This scenic vista includes the entire Poipu coastline all the way to Spouting Horn and beyond to the Island of Niihau.
Poipu Makai B-1 is located within a short walk to Poipu Beach Park, Brennecke's Beach and Shipwreck Beach.
Poipu Makai is well situated to take advantage of all the south shore activities such as golf, tennis, horseback riding and many beaches within a short distance. There are two golf courses nearby, Kiahuna Golf Course and Poipu Bay Resort Golf Course. Both were designed designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Poipu Bay Resort Golf Course is the former site of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf Championship.
Poipu features many fine restaurants, several within walking distance of the condo, and lots of shopping for gifts and souvenirs at Poipu Shopping Villages, Kukui'ula Village and in nearby Old Koloa Town.
