OUr condo had a magnificent view of the ocean! It was wonderful to sit out on the porch and view the sunrise every morning and hear the ocean all day if we didn't want to venture out. The path that runs along the back has walkers and bikers all day and night and we loved joining them.

Pono Kai Unit A-201 is perfection! This completely updated condo is very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The location of this unit provides additional privacy since it's located at the very end of the complex, not to mention the spectacular ocean views and sunrises. The kitchen is large and well-stocked with everything you could possibly need to prepare meals. The unit does not provide cooking oils or spices, but that's normal for a vacation rental. There's a 24-hour Safeway about a mile down the road where you can get everything you need.
The hall closet is stocked with tons of extra towels and linens, and the main bath closet has everything you need for a day at the beach! The condo complex is quiet, well maintained and centrally located between the north and south shores. Be sure to rent bicycles and take the bike path north ~ it was one of the highlights of our trip!

This Pono Kai condo had everything we needed to enjoy a wonderful week in Kauai. The location was perfect to be able to travel and explore the island from North to South without long drives. Beds were comfortable and condo was clean.

This condo is perfect for a Kapaa stay. The oceanfront view is spectacular and close enough to be lulled to sleep by the ocean yet far enough off the bike trail. The condo is extraordinarily clean, roomy and comfortable! Well appointed with great beach gear. Comfortable beds and the air was very nice to have on humid nights in August. Walking distance to food and sundries. The grounds are beautiful with lots to do there (pool, croquet, volleyball, fire pits, koi pond etc). The only thing we’d add would be a few basic spices for cooking!

We had a great stay in this condo! Communication through Kauai Vacation Rentals was clear throughout the booking and payment process. Check in was easy. Condo was clean and beds were very comfortable. View was amazing! Location, steps from the beach and walking path along the shore was perfect for daily sunrise watching. A/C was nice to have, but not needed much due to island breeze. Appreciated beach chairs, cooler, and boogie boards in the unit!

Location was fabulous. Located on the East coast both the North and South shore were a short drive away. The bike path outside our unit provided a wonderful morning walk.
With an ocean front condo we were disappointed with the obscure sliding glass door. We could only enjoy the views when the slider was fully open. Unfortunately we had stromy weather on two of our days and the rains were so strong along with a hole in our porch gutter, our porch flooded and flowed into our living room. Thus we were required to keep our slider close and our beautiful ocean view was completely obscured. What a bummer!

If you love a beautiful ocean view and listening to the ocean and tradewinds, this is the place for you. A beautiful many-mile bike path along the east-side ocean separates you from a little-used beach that seems safer for swimming than other Kauai beaches. Listen to the wind and ocean all night in your ocean-front bedroom, and wake to the Kauai roosters. Unit needs updating, but was clean, spacious and met our needs. Unit has beach chairs and boogie boards and beach-goers can shower off sand, or pool and hot tub on property. Watch a few fishing boats leave from the river. Location, location, location says it all for us. Pono Kai in Kapaa town is a good central location for island visitors, ocean-front restaurants at Sam’s, the Oasis, Lava Lava, and Crooked Surf. Safeway groceries near by ....get a discount card. Kauai Vacation Rentals was a pleasure to deal with.

the condo was old and dirty. We got there Thursday and went to the store and by that night the whole kitchen and all of our food was infested with ants, we had to throw away, not only did we have ants every day put little brown bugs everywhere. The ants were seen in the dishwasher. The carpet is old and dirty, the bathrooms had mold around the tub, the screens were torn and full of bugs and webs, there was no hand rails in the tub area, the faucet in the main bathroom leaks. I could go on and on. We would like to get paid back for the food we lost and the aggravation. We won't recommend this unit to anyone

This unit has a wonderful location in Kapaa and on the island. Pros are location, great ocean view, two bedrooms and bathrooms, and end/top unit in the condo complex. Cons are outdated unit with foil wallpaper in the bathrooms, molded caulk in master bathroom, no bathroom fans, no air conditioning, and carpet all throughout unit. This unit worked well for our family of four. It would have been nice to have a more updated unit with AC, but overall this unit works well if your spending your days outside on the island.

The condo was all that we asked for, on the beach, clean and close to area shops and restaurants. Convenient to driving to different areas. We were told the furnishings and condo itself had not been updated. This was an understatement! Wallpaper in bathrooms looked like it was from the 70s. Even the Goodwill would not have accepted some of the furniture. The beds were comfortable. All that being said we would stay there again because of the location, beautiful views and price!

First off, we love being situated in the middle of Kapaa Town. Easy to walk to the stores, a great bike path and a bunch of places to eat nearby. The condo is an end unit with a wonderful ocean view. While it shows it's age a bit, tear out the carpet and do some minor updates and the place would be perfect. It would probably be double the price as well! The Pono Kai property is immaculately maintained with lot's of activities to keep the family occupied after a long day at the beach. We will no doubt stay here again on our next visit!

Been to Kauai numerous times and to Pono Kai for our stay as well. Always loved the view of the ocean and the character of the units. This unit was worn, lights not working, door closer broken, water from bathroom sink stunk and tasted terrible, dish washer didn't wash and we hand washed all utensils before using. Though the unit price was the same as others, it certainly wasn't in the condition we’ve become accustomed to. Very worn and tired. The pictures do not resemble the actual unit and it's condition.

We really Loved the view and quietness of the unit (other than those roosters), and the perfect size of kitchen. We also loved the long path in front of ocean. I took 1.5 hour walk almost every day and sometimes twice a day. We are definitely coming back to Kauai & Pono Kai!

This second floor unit has a king size bed in the master bedroom and two twin beds in the second bedroom. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms & the living area to circulate the cool ocean breezes. The kitchen is fully equipped and convenient to enjoy home cooked meals with your family. Sit back and enjoy family time in the living area or enjoy the use of the flat screen TV.
The property is lushly landscaped with tropical flowers, fruit trees and peaceful gardens. Enjoy a day refreshing in the pool or enjoy swimming or snorkeling in the sparkling blue Pacific. This beautiful property has lots to enjoy. Play a game of tennis or shuffleboard, grill out at the poolside barbecue, or luxuriate in the jacuzzi or sauna.
Pono Kai is a very short walk to the center of Old Kapaa Town where you can shop for local produce, browse small shops, and dine at a variety of restaurants. Activities nearby include seasonal swimming, snorkeling, water skiing, fishing, surfing, kayaking, hiking, shopping, tennis and golf. Rent a bike to enjoy a day riding along the coast on the bike path or rent a kayak or stand-up paddle board to use in the Wailua river.
