For visitors looking to see the sights under the waves, visit Tunnels beach on the North Shore. During the typically calmer summer months, this beach offers some of the best walk-in snorkeling in Hawaii. The shore is protected from larger waves by the huge reef, so surfers may have to paddle out a bit farther than at other locations. Parking can be a bit of a challenge as well, as there is only room to pull off on the roadside. However, these small issues are more than offset by the clear waters and spectacular underwater scenery.
