Wainiha
North Shore

Description

This spacious, renovated home is nestled on the lush, tropical north shore of the "Garden Island" of Kauai. Wainiha Palms is down a long driveway, surrounded by a big lawn with many mature fruit trees on more than 3/4 acre of land. Enjoy this peaceful, secluded setting with just you and your special someone, or bring family and friends to share the wonder of this special part of paradise.

Two large lanai, one open and one covered, offer plenty of space to enjoy the great outdoors. Youngsters will love the big, open space for running around and playing outdoor games.

Your kitchen is fully equipped with more than just the essentials making it easy to dine at home. You will probably want to make good use of your BBQ for grilling your favorite foods including fresh, island fish. Be sure to visit at least one of Kauai's Sunshine Markets (farmer's markets) that take place in a different town each weekday. You'll find lots of fresh, local produce to complement other ingredients for tasty, culinary treats.

When you feel like eating out, there are a number of wonderful cafes and restaurants within a 10-minute drive and even more just a few minutes further in Princeville.

Activities nearby include touring Limahuli Gardens (a National Tropical Botanical Garden), hiking, biking, seasonal swimming, snorkeling, wind-surfing, surfing, boat tours, fishing, kayaking, horseback riding, and more.

*** Cancellation Policy *** Cancellations require at least a 30 day written or email notice prior to your check-in date for a full refund of your deposit. Notice at least 14 days prior to check in will receive a 50% refund. If less than 14 day notice, the rent, excise tax and reservation processing fee are forfeited. ***

We loved our stay. The rental was spacious and comfortable. Located far out on the north side. Feels like you are alone in your own little paradise. But everything you might need is not a far drive away.

Our third year in a row that we stayed here and this time we were there for 5 weeks. We really love this place - the house, garden, screened in lanai, privacy, and especially the location! We stayed in many places in Princeville previously but weren’t happy there. We hope to keep coming back here!

We had a glorious time at this house. It was such a chill retreat from the beach. We were able to make cook a number of meals with the fully equipped kitchen and are still daydreaming about the expansive yard.

This was the best vacation rental we have stayed in. It was very well stocked, the beds were comfy and the home itself was absolutely beautiful. The views, peacefulness and night sky were unbeatable. If we’re ever lucky enough to return we would definitely stay here. Lisa with the rental company was also very helpful and quick to respond to our inquiries, overall a wonderful experience all around!

We loved this house so much last year that we came back this year! And we’re coming back again next year! We love the location (close to our favorite beaches), the seclusion, the garden and the screened in lanai. It’s also spacious and nicely furnished.

I would describe this place as remote but with close neighbors. It is too Dangerous to walk on the road because it is so narrow. If you have a car you can get around just fine. You will be right around the corner from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. One of the highlights for us was the geckos taking care of any bug problems inside the house. They were so cute and shy. The garden is beautiful and full of all sorts of exotic plants and flowers. Each beach on this side of the island has different fish. Ke-e Beach has the most turtles. It is also home to giant schools of tropical fish just inside the reef. This house will keep you out of the flood zone because it is built on stilts 20 feet off the ground. That’s great in the winter. If nature is your thing, this is the place for you.

The property was great for our group of 7 (5 adults, 2 young kids). Within walking distance of a beach, a village store with basics including some fresh produce, beer, and wine. The management company was very responsive to the minor issue we had with trash pickup. All in all a wonderful experience.

Our family of four stayed here for 3 weeks in July. We really liked our stay! Things we liked the most include the quiet, secluded property with lots of privacy, the great location midway between Hanalei and Ha'ena/Ke'e Beach and close to two of our favorite beaches - Lumahai and Tunnels, the spacious and comfortable house, the beautiful and lush garden, and the screened-in lanai. There were lots of mosquitos so bring your bug spray if you want to hang out outside.

We come to Kauai every summer and usually stay in Princeville. We wanted to try something else and this place was fabulous. We liked it so much that we booked it for next summer!

We stayed at the Wainiha Palms rental property on Kauai.
There were some really lovely things about this house. It was private, spacious, and had a large and useful kitchen. There were 2 king sized beds, one queen sized bed, lots of couches and chairs. The bathrooms were clean. The laundry machines were great. There were beach chairs and umbrellas at the property. Also plenty of towels.

The rental agency was very helpful. We needed a package delivered partway through our trip, and they stayed late at the office so we could pick it up. The trash wasn't picked up 2 weeks in a row, but when we called, someone came and got it the same day.

They also put us in touch with a company that rents children's equipment, and that was very easy. We were able to avoid bringing a pack-and-play, stroller, beach toys, and a pop-up beach tent because we could rent them.

There were a lot of flaws, however, with staying here. Some were controllable, some were not:

- One review of the house mentioned it having air conditioning. It does have 2 portable a/c units. They are not installed, and do not have the accordions to seal the windows or doors. My husband tried to set them up and seal the gaps with pillows, and while they blew cold air, they were not enough to chill the kitchen/living room area. When we tried to use them, we saw the temperature reach 92 degrees one afternoon. The last couple of days we finally set one up in the bedroom so we could sleep and then we didn't want to spend any time in the rest of the house - might as well have gotten a hotel room. The listing does not mention the A/C, so we shouldn't have expected it. Air conditioning was still a primary reason why we chose this rental and we were disappointed.

I’m out of characters but also reviewed this house on vrbo for full notes.

We had a fantastic time staying in this well appointed house. The setting was amazing - a private and beautiful tropical garden yet close enough to all the things to do on the North Shore. One of our favorite things to do was to come back at the end of a thrilling day of outdoor adventure to make dinner together and share the stories of the day. A magical way to spend a family vacation! We loved it so much we are already planning the next time we will be back.

The amenities including washer and dryer were very useful. The environment and location were also most suitable as we felt part of the local surroundings. Our family was seeking - and found - a home to be part of Kauai. This home allowed us to experience the island and people in a natural way - much preferred over a resort atmosphere. KVR was very thorough in providing information as we arrived on the island and via email before our vacation. They were also quite helpful when the kitchen sink became plugged.
